1 December 2020: given the numerous requests from authors who have had difficulties in play-testing due to Covid-19, we decided to REOPEN the deadline for SIGNING UP and for sending the prototypes from 1st December 2020 to 28th February 2021.
11 November 2020: Teodomiro Dal Negro, known as Miro, sadly passed away. With him, we had in the 80s and 90s an intense, fruitful and fun collaboration. In Lex Arcana we dedicated the character of Emperor Theodomirus to him, who opens the game with his speech to the Senate. Ciao Miro!
November 2020: Tokalon training for primary and secondary school teachers: 3 lessons by Dario De Toffoli to learn how to think and make decisions, using the Game, Mathematics and the Game of and in Mathematics.
November 2020: the International Team made the history of games in Italy, and Marco Donadoni was its soul and body. Inside Vite in gioco, Marco collected the memories of many friends (among which there is a small contribution by Dario De Toffoli).
6 October 2020: Herbert Feuerstein, a famous German TV personality, is died. We remember him as president of J.P. Halvah Foundation, created by Alex Randolph (with his cat's name!) to help the up-and-coming game authors. The Foundation was our partner for Premio Archimede, on this page you can see a video with a chat between Randolph and Feuerstein in 1994 in Venice.
10 April 2020: considering the coronavirus health emergency, we decided to reopen the terms of the competition. The deadline for REGISTERING and sending us the prototypes is extended to the 31st of October, 2020 and the final ceremony is postponed to a future date in 2021, which is yet to be defined.
10 May 2020: live speech by Dario De Toffoli to a beautiful initiative of the "Esculea International de Juegos de Strategia". Among the many guests, Paco de la Banda, Andres Kuusk, Ricardo Gomes, Vincent Frochot and also our incredible Andrea Muzii.
April 2020: Issue 25 of the prestigious magazine Ludica. Annals of the history and culture of games edited by Fondazione Benetton Studi Riceche / Viella. This issue also contains, among others, a review by Federico Colovini and Dario De Toffoli, of the volume Le Jeu de rôle sur table, un laboratoire de l'imaginaire, edited by Danièle André and Alban Quadrat.
3 April 2020: games at the time of the virus; charity, on-line gaming and cultural past examples. And slot machines are closed!
5 March 2020: also this year the Musée Suisse du Jeu (Suiss Museum of games) organized an exhibition dedicated to the Premio Archimede’s games. The awarded prototypes are shown as well as some games of the previous editions which in the meantime have been published.
10 February 2020: Playing Season awards the best board games of the last year in Portugal. Sixteen categories with votes from the public and from expert jurors. Between the international titles there is Leo goes to the barber by Leo Colovini, winner in the "Kids" category and distributed in Portugal by Devir, that won also the prize "Game distributor of the year".
February 2020: the Benetton Foundation announces the Gaetano Cozzi 2020 Prize for unpublished essays on the history of game. The competition is dedicated to young scholars born after 1984. All the essays have to be submitted to the Foundation within March 15, 2020, and the winning works will be published in the specialized magazine Ludica. Annali di storia e civiltà del gioco.
28 January 2020: Kangourou Italia, together with studiogiochi, the City of Venice and local Hard Rock Cafe, took mathematical games to Venice. Kangourou mathematic contest involved 12 teams of students from high schools of the Veneto Region.
12 December 2019: the incredible undertakings of the new World Memory Champion. Andrea Muzii is 20 years old and started with Rubik's Cube.
