of Premio Archimede 2004
Dear Author,
We thank you for your patience and for the trust you showed us.
But the waiting has been rewarded and we are proud, to show you
now the new and enrichened program.
First of all a great word of thank you to Alex Randolph, Maestro
of all games-inventors and from the very beginning the President
of the jury of Premio Archimede.
We don’t succeed to realize that he is not there any more!
To honour him, from now on and for always Premio Archimede will
officially dedicated to his memory.
To the dutch-floentine Niek Neuwahl the difficult task to take his
place as president of the jury: to him our best wishes. And good
wishes also to Michael Matschoss (Germany), Ulrich
Schaedler (Switzerland) and Giorgio Salvadego
(Venice), new members of the jury who will help us to make this
Premio grow, and who testimony also its growing internationalisation.
But let’s come finally, to the official program of the end-phase:

to arrive
This new and prestigious site can be reached very
easily; the address is “ai Bolentini”, only 3 minutes
from the parking terminal of Piazza Roma and 5 minutes from the
main station.
Beginning with this edition, the Premio will be supported by the
german Foundation J.P.Halvah, (created by Alex Randolph himself
with the purpose to help new games inventors), which will collaborate
actively in the realisation of the final phases and which will offer
a contribution of Euro 3.000,- to the winners, in form of travels
of study, stages, contributions for publication etc.
Probably Mr. Herbert Feuerstein, President of the Foundation, who
is Alex’ friend, who in the famous café Hawelka in
Vienna, inspired the birth of Twixt, the “creature”
Alex loved most and for which he wants to be remembered, will be
present at the prize-ceremony.
The premio will have the official support of the City of Venice
and of the Faculty of Architecture. At the final ceremony will attend
Mrs. Mara Rumiz, the President of the City Councel of Venice.
We would be very pleased, if also you would participate at this
Feast of games. During the final phase you will receive the certificate
of valutation of your game and a small gift.

11:00 Opening to the public of the exhibition of
all 140 games, sent in to the Premio
15:00 workshop “Developing an idea”
coordinated by Niek Neuwahl and Leo Colovini
18:30 nomination of the 30 finalist games
Sunday 3 October
10:00 Meetings of the jury with the inventors
15:00 Prize-Ceremony: Memory of Alex Randolph,
special awards and prizes
During the whole manifestation there will be possibility to meet
and talk to various members of the jury and to play your game with
the public, with the journalists and with the representants of the
editing companies.
At the disposal of all partecipants there will be also a selection
of the best games of Alex Randolph.
If you want to participate at the workshop, you are invited to write
us (preferably by e-mail), also in case you made already a reservation
for the cancelled Milan-edition.
If your game will not be one of the finalists, at the end of the
final ceremony you can take it with you – in case you are
not there it will be sent back to you.
If, instead, your game will be one of the finalists, with your consent,
it will be exposed in the Musée Suisse du Jeu (Swiss Games
Museum – www.museedujeu.com) in the castle of La Tour de Peilz;
the director of the museum, Ulrich Schaedler, who became a member
of the jury, will be attending the prize-ceremony, at the end of
which he will overtake personally the games to be exhibited.
